The project provides a new, multi-purpose hall for an existing 900-place high school. The flexible accommodation includes a 500 square metre main hall designed to cater for school theatrical and musical productions, drama classes, assemblies and for up to 200 examination candidates. Storage, sanitary and utility accommodation surrounds the hall on two sides, with planned provision for future extensions to provide rehearsal, changing and additional storage and sanitary facilities.
Within the constraints of a limited budget and site, the project provides a high profile building for the school’s current needs and anticipates future expansion and fitting-out for community use. The building is of steel frame construction with a profiled steel roof, acoustic lining panels and a combination of brick and textured masonry block walls.
