The approach to the interpretation of the Design provided within the Employers Requirements has been to rationalise and simplify both the structural and constructional content wherever possible whilst sustaining the original plans and elevations. In principle, whilst retaining a structural steel frame for the Fire Tender Garage, we have chosen to utilise load bearing construction for the Amenities Annex. We also utilised medium weight blockwork for partitions in spite of this being a “wet” trade process, because of the inherent benefits of better acoustic, fire protection and general robustness over dry lining components.
In support of the BREEAM requirements we also suggest the utilisation of rainwater collected from the roof areas be diverted into a suitable “grey” water toilet flushing system and the provision of solar collectors for hot water provision.
